Topolinski discusses hula traditions; how hula is passed down; hula repertoire and its story-telling function; men as hula dancers, and gender distinctions in hula; the importance of the chants to which dances are set; hula training and etiquette; hula costumes and the significance of leis. A member of Ka Pa Hula Hawai'i demonstrates the construction of the men's dance skirt.
