Description:

A set of four headdress worn in Ishtar of the Seven Gates. They appear to have been worn by male members of the company for the role of the Priests.

Items Details:
The headdresses each consist of a tall cone shaped buckram hat covered with a black and gold brocade fabric woven with an Egyptian motif. The hat is decorated with three bands of gold braid and bands of metallic gold ribbon. Around the side and back of the headdress hangs a deep fringe of think black rope braids, each trimmed with gold braid. They appear to have been worn with wrap skirts C-717_1-4.

C-717_1 Inscribed with the name Ralph (possibly Ralph Parker)
C-717_2 Inscribed with the name Jerry.
C-717_3 Inscribed with the name Phil. The trim on the braids has been replaced.
C-717_4 No name.

The costumes were given to Karoun Tootikian by Ruth St. Denis. Tootikian worked with St. Denis from  1945. The costumes were then gifted to Stephanie Clemens and were used up until the 1990s.
