Black silk obi. Worn by Ruth St. Denis in O-Mika.

Item Details:
Black silk obi decorated with two pieces of embroidery. The top piece shows a pond with a bridge and lilies and is embroidered with colored silk and gold lurex thread. The bottom piece appears to be older and shows a dragon embroidered in lurex thread. Attached to the back are two long strips of black silk backed with cotton. The piece is lined with apple green silk and at the bottom has a fringe of apple green silk tassels. Although the piece appears to be an obi, photographs of St. Denis show her holding it to the front of her body. Was worn with Kimonos C-037.
