Gold High-Waisted Trunks, Unknown Work, Men Dancers (set of three)
Three pairs of highly decorated gold trunks constructed onto a corset base. Worn by Ted Shawn's Men Dancers in an unknown work. Possibly worn in Choric Dance from an Antique Greek Comedy.
Each pair is made from a pair of highly decorated cotton trunks covered in scallop shaped appliqués decorated with gold lurex and seed beads. The high waist band is covered in gold lamé fabric. The high waist band is mounted onto part of a deconstructed ladies corset. The corsets appeared to be recycled from the ladies of the Denishawn Company.
C-243_2 Is inscribed with the name Jordie (Georgia Graham) on the corset and Mac (Wilbur McCormack)
C-243_3 Is inscribed with the name Ruth (Ruth St. Denis) on the corset and Barton (Barton Mumaw) on the briefs.
