Description:
A large green sateen nautch skirt worn by Ruth St. Denis in The Green Nautch.

Item Details:
A large green cotton sateen skirt. The waist band is covered with a frayed band of purple braid and the top portion of the green skirt has been replaced with new sateen. Half way down the skirt are four bands of gold and silver lurex and one made of pink. The hem is bordered with a deep border of gold lurex and a dark gold trim at the hem. The skirt has been frequently repaired and patched and fastened with three very large hooks and bars. A label inside reads L3088IA.

A note on the back of a photograph of Ruth St. Denis wearing this costumes states that she purchased it 'from a collection in Agra of Old Rajput Origin'.
