Education has long played an important role at Jacob's Pillow, starting from the early 1930s. Before founder Ted Shawn came to the Pillow, he and Ruth St. Denis established the Denishawn School in 1915. During his four decades at the Pillow, Shawn led the University of the Dance, inviting stellar instructors from all over the world to train young dancers. Over the years, the Pillow has hosted thousands of notable teachers and students - a few of whom are represented in this gallery.
