Lauri Klefos

Person
Biography
Lauri Klefos was an influential civic booster in the Berkshires who played a significant role in promoting Jacob’s Pillow within the tourism industry. As the longtime President and CEO of the Berkshire Visitors Bureau until that organization became part of 1Berkshire in 2017, Klefos was a key cheerleader for area arts institutions. It was her idea to host one of 1Berkshire’s quarterly public relations summits in the Pillow’s new Perles Studio in the fall of 2017, and there were countless other times when she advocated for Jacob’s Pillow. Born in Maryland as Lauri Ostrander, she attended schools in Southern New Hampshire, and she held tourism positions in both New Hampshire and Arizona before settling in the Berkshires. Her vocation was also a personal passion, and she once wrote, “For me, tourism has always meant adventure, memories of special times with family and friends, and a rewarding career.” A wine enthusiast, she enjoyed spending time on the beach, especially on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. At the time of her unexpected death in November 2018 at 62, she was Executive Vice President of 1Berkshire, planning for her retirement four months later.
