Summary:
"Marta Renzi Newsletters Volume I and II chronicle the notable events, working methods and musings of a dance artist whose career was in full throttle by the time she mailed out the first of these publications. These newsletters were originally designed by Susan Clement Cohen of Good Graphics and printed by Harrington Press in Nyack, New York.

Renzi began making dances as a child in the 1960's, presenting her first work in New York in 1976 and gained not-for-profit status in 1981. By 1995 she had received 6 choreographic fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.

These two books cover more than two decades: 1983 to 1992 and 1993 to 2006.

In a pre-digital age, mailing a newsletter was Renzi's way to keep in touch with her audience: friends, family, dancers and supporters. Reading these diary-like entries provides us with the historical landscape through which one choreographer made her way during the turn of the 21st century.

After 2006 this personal conversation with her audience migrated to another sphere: http://martarenzi.blogspot.com

Renzi's candid and intimate writing offers insight into more than twenty years of work, her creative process, as well as the spirit and philosophy that motivated her." -- from the book's opening page
