Ankle Decoration, Unknown Work, Men Dancers (set of four)
Four heel and ankle decoration. Worn as part of an unknown costume by members of Ted Shawn's Men Dancers.
The decoration consists of a piece of black fabric covering the heel and trimmed with gold painted wooden and plastic beads and orange cotton trim. Under the heel is a pad of brown canvas. Attached at either side of the ankle is a triangular shaped panel of black fabric trimmed with orange cotton trim and decorated with a gold painted gumnut and green feathers. From the point of the triangle a loop of elastic is attached which would have secured the item to the wearers foot.
