Caroline Hamilton interviews Norton Owen in the Blake's Barn Reading Room for the Jacob’s Pillow Archives Oral History Project. Owen discusses the Jacob's Pillow Archives costume collections, which are primarily composed of costumes from the Denishawn and Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers companies. Owen covers how the costumes came to Jacob's Pillow; the long-term storage of the costumes in trunks; Norton's first interactions with the costumes; the 1981 costume trunk inventory; the 1977 costume exhibition; the trunk relocation to Blake's Barn; the 1982 and 1991 exhibitions; various costume loans; the UCLA Collection of Ruth St. Denis materials and how it came to Jacob's Pillow; other collections of costumes at the Pillow such as Eva Sikelianos, Mary Howry, and Hadassah; and the 2018 costume project to fully inventory and rehouse the costume collections, which was executed by Caroline Hamilton.
